~ The song you didn’t know that you know but don’t really know ~
Fantastic fretwork from guest Mark Knopfler on this one, that drives a great coming-of-age story from Rod Stewart. A couple of kids defying their parents to take off to the big city and start a life together, even though the parents clearly didn’t approve.
Everyone knows the chorus, everyone knows the melody, the vocals aren’t particularly fast when compared to something like It’s The End Of The World As We Know It or Garden of Eden, but they’re still fast enough that people have trouble keeping up with them if they don’t really know them well. So everyone sort of hums along with the melody and sings the chorus and hopes no one notices the mumbling while Rod tells a good mid-80s story that probably needed a movie but did get a decent video.
