by Thin Lizzy
~ A master storyteller ~
As much as folks like to focus on the twin lead guitar attack from Thin Lizzy, especially on the heavier tunes, it was Phil’s storytelling that really brought their songs together. While he definitely had a fascination with the Wild West of the 1800s in the US, he also told a lot of stories of dockside criminals, local mob bosses, and all manner of ne’er-do-wells.
A song about a bookie with harmonized guitar lines, a driving baseline with an envelope effect, and Phil’s deep voice over at all is about as classic Thin Lizzy as you can get, and the story he weaves is a perfect Phil Lynott song.
