~ Sometimes it’s okay to meet your heroes ~

One of the coolest experiences is not just meeting your heroes, but having them approve of, and respect, the work you’re doing. There was a VH1 show a few years ago that mixed older and newer artists for some backstage conversations with some on-stage performances. 3 Doors Down got to hang out with Lynyrd Skynyrd.

As much fun as it was to watch 3 Doors Down covering Skynyrd tunes, the real highlight of the night was when Skynyrd took the stage to play this song with a couple of 3 Doors Down up there with them. To have their heroes playing their song in front of a crowd and killing it had to be the ultimate high for the boys in the band.

Honestly, you couldn’t have knocked the smiles off of their faces with a sledgehammer.

Sometimes meeting your heroes actually works out.

You can find the live version of this song w/ Skynyrd, Hank Jr, and 3 Doors Down on Youtube, but it’s just the album cover and not the bands actually performing on the video.

Here’s everyone together on stage playing Sweet Home Alabama, though, so you can get a sense of what it was like for the kids up there with their idols.
