~ The weirdest national tour ~
This is one of the tracks from the Sonic Highways album that saw the Foo Fighters record eight songs in eight cities across eight episodes of an HBO special. The shows were fantastic, and they gave the viewer some really good perspective on the place where the recordings happened just as much as the process of the songs themselves.
This isn’t just one of the better songs on the album, it’s also one of the ones that’s more meaningful to me. Dave includes a variety of references to Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath and how it changed the city. Given that I have family that had to completely rebuild houses in New Orleans and others who survived on the North Shore, songs like this will always have a little more personal connection for me.
